iPhone Price Cut Causes Tidal Wave on the Internet
The Apple iPhone Price Cut is Making Waves!WoW! I bet Apple did not realize their price cut on the Apple iPhone would create such a big stir. A tidal wave of unhappiness rolled through the internet after thier price cut announcement!
The Apple Corporation announced the new Apple iPhone in January 2007, yet did not release it for sale until June 2007. The initial cost of the iphone was $500 for a 4GB model and $600 for an 8GB model.
Although the price of the iphone was incredibly high, droves of people stood in line on the day of it's release. Thousands and thousands of both the 4GB iphone and 8GB iphone were sold that day and continued to sell at the high prices.
Eventually, the iphone appeared on eBay and other auction sites for a lower cost, and included software bundles. Software was developed to "unlock" it, so you can use any cell phone carrier ("Locked" iphones force people to use AT&T's plan which also required a 2 year contract).
Recently, iPhone announced a price cut on the 8GB iphone, from $600 to $399, with free shipping. In addition, they announced they were discontinuting the 4GB model (you really need 8GB's to enjoy all the great features).
With a price cut coming so soon after release, thousands of original purchasers became Extremely mad! The internet exploded with irrate iPhone owners. One woman in New York was so incensed, she filed a lawsuit seeking $1 million.
To help appease the thousands of angry iPhone owners, Apple, Inc. is offering them $100 credit in the Apple online or retail store. If a purchaser bought their iPhone within two weeks of the price reduction, they can go back to the store where they bought the device and get the $200 price difference.
Yet, thousands are extremely HAPPY that Apple has cut the 8GB iPhone price! This means it may be within their own budget. A $200 price cut really does make a difference for some people. It also means the prices will even be coming down on cheap iphones on eBay and other Auction sites.
So, whether you are happy or mad about the price cut, it looks like the iPhone is still making waves on the internet.
